ABOUT SCHOOL MARS
Describe SchoolMars in less than 50 words.
“SchoolMars is a “Tripadvisor” of schools and educational centers where families, alumni and students can rate their centers to improve information about these.”
On the other hand, schools can access a powerful educational marketing tool (a dashboard) to publish educational projects, upload an image gallery, reply to comments … to socialize education and improve together.
Why did you decide to start developing SchoolMars?
According to UNESCO, in the world there are more than 100 million school (pre university education), but there is no real and official register about it. Can SchoolMars be the largest educational map of the world?
On the other hand, there are approximately 30,000 schools of which 40% in Spain has no website or its pages use outdated technology. As a lover of technology, education and the world of internet it seems a devastating data.
What is the biggest obstacle you have faced so far?
In Spain the Edtech sector is still starting to take off. While the rest of the world have a forecast $ 217 billion valuation. One of the biggest handicaps is that “decision makers” of the schools have an average age of 55/60 years and an absolute lack of progress and the possibilities of technology, social networks…
Where do you see SchoolMars in 5 years?
We want to build the largest database of schools in the world. The largest educational map where the centers can contribute their methodologies and educational projects to become the concerning educational and technological level.
To do this, we already have databases in UK, US, Brazil, Australia, France, Mexico … the emerging countries in the Edtech sector and we are preparing to launch in several countries. In total we have more than 1 Million of schools that we want to challenge to to improve education.
What you most excited about right now?
“All what remains to be done in the educational world with the help of technology and traditional teaching processes. Education as we know it will cease to exist and only a few will be on the first train out. H2020 educational projects such as the Jesuits, the new Montessori methods or the implementation of educational models based on Lean Startup in the classroom will direct the helm of educational change.”

How it was your journey from teacher to entrepreneur?
“I’ve always been, am and will be a teacher (as my grandfather). On arrival at becoming an entrepreneur was almost by chance. My students are between 3 and 6 years and the spread of their concerns, nervousness and many other factors have always led me to look for new things.”
What are your thoughts on the future of education technology?
All that remains to be done in the educational world of the hand of technology and traditional teaching processes is discovered. Education as we know it will cease to exist and only a few will be on the first train out.
